MARIANNE REDMOND LOPEZ

Experience: Having been a therapist for almost 30 years all over the state of Virginia, I have made my home and established a private practice currently in Northern Virginia. I see clients online in my private practice and well as offer supervision and consulting services. Through my work, I am committed to helping people overcome addictions to substances and/other (sex, gambling, porn, etc.), depression, anxiety, struggles with personality disorders, learning as a couple, military, and veterans’ concerns, first responders (including therapists) and other stresses that affect all of us at some time in our lives. I believe that healing is a collaborative endeavor that requires honest caring without judgment, and I cooperatively assist my clients in clarifying their goals for treatment. Rather than adopting one methodology for all individuals and issues, I draw from a variety of methods to create a tailored approach for each individual and situation. As a therapist, I am warm, open, encouraging, and direct. I consider myself an active therapist, combining experience, education, creativity, and sense of humor with a down-to-earth, realistic approach to therapy.

I believe that learning to recognize how our thinking patterns affect our choices and decision-making, and as a result our outcomes, plays a significant role in our ability to lead happy and meaningful lives. I also believe that uncovering our unconscious and subconscious desires and beliefs is key to self-acceptance and the ability to change patterns of negative behavior. I use a lot of humor, experiential behavioral experiments, and examination of attitudes, values, and beliefs to help clients live more fulfilling lives.
