CANDACE COSTON

Experience:I have been practicing behavioral therapy for over a decade, since graduating from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 2012. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients, each bringing their own unique strengths, stories, and challenges. My experience includes supporting young children struggling with behaviors that affect success at home and school, helping adolescents build coping skills and strengthen relationships, guiding adults with co-occurring mental health and developmental needs, and providing individual and couples therapy within the military community.

Credentials & Training

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker
  • Master of Social Work (MSW)

Who I Work With
I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, including couples, children, neurodivergent individuals, people of color, LGBTQ+ clients, and those seeking therapy that integrates spirituality or Christian values.

Therapeutic Approach
My approach is grounded in curiosity, compassion, and collaboration. I start by learning what brings you joy, what you value most, and how you view yourself and your relationships. From there, we co-create a path toward your goals—whether the destination is mental, emotional, physical, or relational well-being.

I draw from a blend of evidence-based modalities, including Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Expressive Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Narrative Therapy.

Areas of Focus
I specialize in helping clients navigate shadow work, codependency, ADHD, communication and conflict resolution, self-esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, boundaries, decision-making, and imposter syndrome. I also support clients coping with trauma, traumatic brain injury, grief, adjustment challenges, self-criticism, and impulsivity related to anger.

Outside the Office
When I’m not working, I enjoy immersing myself in creative and exploratory activities like Dungeons & Dragons, narrative video games, writing poetry, traveling, baking, and cooking. I believe that creativity and storytelling—whether through play, words, or recipes—can be powerful tools for insight and healing.
